Hay un dicho que dice así: ¡Cuando uno se divierte el tiempo pasa rápido!, después de casi 8 años de estar el colegio como profesor de idioma alemán hago un balance y solo puedo ver beneficios para mi persona y ejercicio de mi vocación como docente.

Aquí he aprendido que con excelencia las cosas pueden ser mejores, que es necesario tener una filosofía de vida, para que ésta tenga un rumbo y así poder alcanzar las metas trazadas. Poner en práctica hábitos que potencien mi profesión solo me han hecho sentir que el trabajo como docente es un regalo que quiero compartir con todos los jóvenes con los que tengo contacto.

La secundaria es un lugar en donde se actúa con independencia responsable, es un nivel, en donde el apoyo de dirección y coordinación se vive, la solidaridad, el respeto y el buen ambiente laboral ayuda a que el trabajo arduo se convierta en una experiencia positiva de vida, una experiencia en la que la frase “el suizo es parte de mi vida” se hace realidad.

I remember when I was sent to the Suizo Americano for my Practice Teaching in 2010, nervousness and commotion were the first I felt. However, I was not acquainted that teaching was about to become my joy.

I would dare to say that I became a Suizo Americano Teacher since I learned that my teacher effectiveness was positively associated with student achievement. I learnt how to be organized, reliable, fun, dedicated, and most important passionate about education. This school has opened doors for me to develop in both, my teaching in Spanish and English. In fact, I spent six years teaching Spanish and recently I´ve taught English for two years.

According to Jeff Charbonneau, “Teaching is solving the mysteries of human motivation, hope, fear, and doubt. Every day. For every Child.” Teaching has taught me that having the opportunity to teach makes me learn more than I had ever thought. My morning motivation is always to have my students’ willingness to discover their greatness. My hope is to see every student becoming their best version and doing their best effort. My biggest fear is not having those many hugs, smiles and opportunities to make a positive difference in some children’s lives, and my every day doubt is to think, how I would make the world different without teaching.

Finally, I always keep these Rita Pierson words to myself, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connections and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” Nevertheless, students always remind me how strong, capable, courageous and inspiring I can be when discovering teaching, my calling, for good.
